Saint Veronica
Veronica was a woman from Jerusalem who, in a gesture of compassion, offered her veil to Jesus Christ, so that He could wipe the sweat and blood that flowed from His face as He walked the path to Calvary.
Legend has it that after wiping off the sweat and blood, the face of Jesus Christ was engraved on the veil. It is also said that the Roman Emperor Tiberius was cured of an illness when he touched the veil with the image of the Holy Face.
The feast day of Saint Veronica is July 12th.
How can we show compassion for those around us?
