Saint Gemma Galgani
Saint Gemma Galgani was born in Lucca, Italy, on March 2, 1878.
Gemma is often called the “Daughter of the Passion” because of her love for Jesus. “Oh love, oh infinite love! .....Oh love of my Jesus! ....Let Your love penetrate my all; from You I want nothing else. My God, my God, I love You.” She decided to be “the wife of a crucified King; to be all and only for Jesus ”. She felt she belonged to Jesus and was born for Him.
Here are her words that could be a good life program: "I wish that my heart could beat, that I could live and breath only for Jesus. I wish that my tongue could utter no other name than that of Jesus; that my eyes could see only Jesus; that my pen could write only about Jesus, and that my thoughts could soar to nothing but Jesus.”
Gemma was declared saint in 1940 by Pope Pius XII.
Saint Gemma feast day is celebrated on May 16.
